Before you start using combo, you hav to do a few checks. First is to see if you have at least 3 attacking skills, buff skills cannot be used as part of the combo, nor is dash or fadestep allowed for some versions of cabal online. Second thing to check is the cool down time for each of your skills. If the cool down time is not enough for each of the skills, your combo will break.

The advantage of combo is that you will get 100% hits for every skill and the damage is higher when you use combo, which means more exp. Plus, when you use combo, the skills will be cast faster, in the sense when you use a skills without combo, there will be a so called recovery time after each skill, normally around 1 second, due to the fact that your char needs to totally stop moving before you can use the next skill, but when you use combo, that so called "recovery time" will be more or less gets cancelled.

You will know what we mean when your a blader or force blader. For blader, use storm grind followed by any other skill, and you will see your blader will kind suddenly teleport from mid-air and then to ground level(Cabal alz) and use the next skill. For force blader, use dance of ruin and followed by any other skill and you will see the same thing.

Now when you start combo, a combo gauge will appear with 2 needle like line somewhere in the middle and near to the right. The gauge will look something like the above. Once u start it, the above gauge will appear either at the top middle of your screen, just below the monster's HP bar or just above your char's head, depending on the settings u made. There will be another colored bar that will start to race from the left to the right of the combo gauge bar.
